About Me

I’m an author. I wrote a book called DONUT DAYS. Then I wrote another called THE IMPLOSION OF AGGIE WINCHESTER. Next, my novel THE WAITING SKY will be out in August 2012. And that’s about all I can plan for since the Apocalypse is supposed to happen next, and we may all need to deal with other things at that point.

Other stuff? I like cheese. One time I swallowed a moth.

If you’re a writer, I’d love it if you stopped by my other site chock full of writerly information: www.help4writers.com.

I grew up in a town in Wisconsin called Eau Claire. It’s French for “clear water.” I thought “clear water” in French was Evian. Guess not. Here’s Eau Claire on a map:

My worst Halloween costume ever was when I went as Harriet Miers. I know, right? You’re thinking — who?? She was a Supreme Court nominee for, like, five minutes. My husband Rob still thinks the costume was great, and that’s why I lurve him.

One of the first books I ever penned was a little tome called Help, I’ve Been Captured. It’s about a baby kidnapped by a robber — because, you know, most robbers will totally be kidnappers, too. It never really had an ending because I ran out of paper. But it was pretty good right up until the part where the kidnapped baby escapes from the robber’s house and hides behind a bush.

After that, I published a book called Make Things Happen: The Key to Networking for Teens. It’s about how connecting with people can help launch teens (but really anyone) toward their dreams and goals. In these tough economic times, it’s a handy-dandy little book if I do say so myself.

And of course there’s DONUT DAYS, my debut novel about Emma and her trials and tribulations at a Crispy Dream donut camp.

THE IMPLOSION OF AGGIE WINCHESTER is about a Goth girl whose best friend is pregnant and suddenly, unexpectedly, the center of a prom scandal at her high school. And my foll0w follow-up book is THE WAITING SKY about a girl who chases tornadoes with her brother for a summer, in part to escape home life with an alcoholic mom.

laraamosweb.jpg Other stuff about me: I have a beagle, Amos, and a kitty, Pancake. This is a photo of me and Amos together in a field. We’re both pretty happy. If I could have 10,000 animals, I would. I lurve animals. But Rob says that the number of pets in the house shouldn’t be greater than the number of people. Which, I totally understand that but still. I really love animals.
